BECCA x Chrissy Teigen Glow Face Palette – Summer Make-Up Dreaming

“Remember to smile, laugh a lot and treasure every moment…” reads the back of this beautiful, packaging. Something we all think to do but don’t always put into practice. So, while we smile and laugh through these final cold weeks (hopefully) let’s look forward to the fun of summer days and the shimmery make-up that goes along with them!

As a newbie to the Becca range I was unsure what to expect in terms of quality for this Glow Face Palette, but as a follower of the sassy Mrs Legend’s social media (if you didn’t already know she’s wifey to John Legend, where have you been?) I knew to expect something REAL from this collaboration. Chrissy is a real woman with a realness attitude and not about putting up a front on who she is. So that was my anticipation for this palette. Something for a real person to enhance their natural beauty not to hide it.

This palette contains four pans of pressed product. Two Shimmering Skin Perfector™ Pressed Highlighters, both 5.1g – Beach Nectar, which is a bronze tone shimmer for a more dramatic highlight; Rose Gold, which from the name you can anticipate a lighter, fresher colour but still with a great sparkle. Next we have the Sunlit Bronzer in the colour Malibu Soleil and the Luminous Blush in the shade Hibiscus Bloom (both 2.4g)

Top left Beach Nectar Shimmering Skin Perfector™ Pressed Highlighter

Top Right Hibiscus Bloom Luminous Blush

Bottom Left Malibu Soleil Sunlit Bronzer

Bottom Right Rose Gold Shimmering Skin Perfector™ Pressed Highlighter

I’m relatively pale and both highlighters work well on my skin tone, working with the rest of my make-up to decide which is more complimentary for the overall look. Rose Gold is great for during the day or a casual night time look, whereas Beach Nectar works well for more statement make-up looks and nights out. They both give off a good shimmer so the judgement of which to wear tends to lie with the colour tones when finishing a look.

Hibiscus Bloom is a great blush for giving a flush of colour when you need that bit of life in your cheeks without looking like a clown – unless you over apply then call yourself Coco!

When I initially reached for the Malibu Soleil bronzer I was extremely apprehensive as it looks rather dark in the pan and with being more English Rose complexion than a tanned beauty I was expecting to find it far too dark for me. I was so wrong! This whole palette is as strong as it’s application. Buildable and blendable (if that’s even a word) the colour pay off is perfect for that subtle glow but is able to be built upon for the sort of intensity your current look desires.

Swatches from Top to Bottom (or Left to Right; however you want to play it)

  • Beach Nectar Shimmering Skin Perfector™ Pressed Highlighter
  • Hibiscus Bloom Luminous Blush
  • Rose Gold Shimmering Skin Perfector™ Pressed Highlighter
  • Malibu Soleil Sunlit Bronzer

This palette has swiftly become a staple in my make-up and looking at how lightly the pans have been used shows there is no need to go digging for product for your desired finish. Quality over quantity going on right here, and at £45 I would personally say it’s worth every penny.

Now, I did cheat and buy this while I was honeymooning in Florida – but considering the exchange rate it wasn’t too much difference to pricing from the UK. This lady just got excited and had to treat herself. I have found it online a few places but many of them seemed to be sold out. SpaceNK comes to the rescue though available online and coming up with free shipping I would be tempted if I was anywhere near finishing!

Have you tried the Glow Face Palette? What are your thoughts? What’s your favourite Becca product?
